The gallery opens Sunday!

It’s almost exactly 5 days until we open up the Stocksdale Gallery on Sunday! Right now, all the girls are busy finishing up with framing, touching up paintings, and hanging their work. I’ve got two walls to work with, and a total of 17 paintings and prints. I’m thinking about making one wall Madrid paintings, because I have probably 7 of those or so, and the other wall Italy and Nice. Then again, I might just mix everything up.

One piece I’m really excited about is Cimbalomania. It’s 4 paintings which sort of fit together like you’re looking at a pinwheel (if that makes any sense at all). There’s one subject per painting, and each is on a bold background (this is pretty typical of my work). The subjects are a double bass player, two cimbalomists, and one accordionist. They’re all part of a street performing group that I used to see in the Sol area of Madrid. To see pictures, click on ‘works’ at the top of this page and look under ‘Key of Life Works.’

This piece, plus 11 others, will be on display starting this Sunday at 2pm! There will also be delicious food and some scandalous paintings. Rumor has it someone’s pricing a piece at $1000 too- I’m anxious to see if that’s true or not. Hope to see you there!
